VetkinTape® provides veterinary taping courses. Our aim is to teach the value of the Medical Taping Concept and the benefits regarding its veterinary applications.
VetkinTape® aims to deliver high-end educational training based on the experience and feedback obtained from our human MTC courses. Additionally, our taping instructors are equine or canine practitioners and specialists in applying the Medical Taping Concept (MTC) for animal purposes.
The Effect on the Skin
The idea behind this new innovative method was that muscles not only attributed to the movements of the body, but also control for instance blood and lymph circulation and the body temperature. Improper muscle function can cause a range of symptoms and complaints.
Pursuing this idea, an elastic kinesiology tape was developed which could support the muscles in their functions without restricting their movement. By treating the affected muscles in this way, the body’s own healing process would be activated.
Veterinary Kinesiology Taping vs. Conventional Taping Methods
Conventional taping methods that use non-elastic materials often adversely affect the joints and restricts the animal’s freedom. Kinesiology taping allows movement, making the application very comfortable for the animal while treating pain, supporting joints and improving mobility and lymph circulation.
Animal Kinesiology
Animal kinesiology is the science of movement in an animal’s body. In the event of an injury, in most instances, movement is very important during the healing process.
VetkinTape® has therefore been designed to help therapists, physioherapists and veterinarians to treat conditions such as pain, inflammation, edema, and scars without restricting movement. Professionals who work to reduce pain, prevent injury or the recurrence thereof in animals (i.e., rehabilitation and physical therapy), are now able to add this relatively new technique to their skills portfolio.
Kinesiology Tape for Equine
VetkinTape® is specially designed for animals and is ideal for the use on animal skin and the underlying tissue.
VetkinTape® has a variety of uses to treat the locomotor system. It can facilitate, muscular contraction in a weak muscle or the relaxation in the case of muscle tension. VetkinTape® can assist in correcting posture or movement and manage scar tissue caused by wounds or surgery.
Kinesiology Tape for Canine
Veterinary Taping for Canine can be used to reduce pain over painful joints or muscles and to reduce edema after trauma or surgery (abdominal or orthopaedic). In the case of surgery, scar management can be performed with VetkinTape® to avoid adherences that can compromise the movement of tissues in the future.
There is an increasing number of professionals in the field using this innovative technique to improve their rehabilitation protocols. The application of VetkinTape® between sessions is a useful way to continue treating the patient during the interval of the sessions.
VetkinTape® for Canine is, just like Equine taping, an addition to the skills of Canine physiotherapists – and can be used during several treatments. It is commonly used for pain relief and to improve blood circulation. There is an increasing demand for veterinary taping on dogs and we expect to see more veterinary professionals and physiotherapists include kinesiology taping to their daily practices. It is an innovative supplementary technique in veterinary rehabilitation and animal physiotherapy and is already used by many veterinary professionals.
VetkinTape®
The hypoallergenic properties of the tape makes it possible to wear the tape for up to five days, making a 24 hour a day treatment possible.
The sizes are designed to match different size areas on horses or small animals. The adhesive was developed exclusively for veterinary use and is considered by many professionals to be the best in the market for sports applications.
The kinesiology tape is most commonly used on horses and dogs, but it can be used on other animals as well.
